Harlescott A 3, Beaconsfield C 1
Beaconsfield’s Martin Lewis stormed away in the first, with breaks of 37 and 27 to defeat Craig Crossley 81-18. Callum Wraight replied beating Ashley Lewis 60-23. Ade Rowe then outpotted Steve Farmer 79-21 before Billy Lanham had a 42-0 walkover.
Meole Brace A 2, Preston Brockhurst A 2
Great 2 points for the Brock at the high flying Meole side. Pip Higgins was in great form to beat Tom Hancher 46-28 helped by his 24 break. Ross Corfield levelled by winning the second against Adrian Trowsdale 67-21. Arn Mulligan put the visitors ahead again by taking the third from Ross Turner 71-30, before Kelvin Li claimed the last 47-11 over Alan Trowsdale.
Beaconsfield A 4, Wem Cons A 0
Another full house for Beaconsfield, who will be first to earn a point off them? Mind you the first couldn’t have been closer, Duncan Hill losing out by a single point to Simon McLeod 55-54. In the next John Banks beat Glen Barclay 70-41. Captain Dave Davies knocked in a 28 on the way to winning 71-20 against Will Skerratt. At the back Mike Barnsley got revenge on the only player to beat him this season, Greg Edwards, 57-30.
Meole Brace C 0, Beaconsfield B 4
This whole match was very hard fought and the scoreline a little flattering to the visitors. Simon Richards built up a thirty odd lead in the first, but Colin Beaman dug in only to lose 45-68. Andy Baron dominated the next until Ross O’Callaghan laid the snooker he needed. However Andy went on to pot a good long brown to win 75-47. In the third Mike Beasley forged ahead before Danny Sumner clawed back taking it to the black, Mike getting it 66-58. An error-strewn fourth saw yours truly relieved to get the last black to defeat Mike Jones 47-37.
DIVISION TWO
Condover A 2, Meole Brace H 2
The hosts went 2-0 up. Syd Longland beat Jordan Phillips 55-37 in spite of Jordan’s 22, Rhys Williams then had a 68-35 victory over Neil Thomas. Back came Meole with Steve Memmott beating Charlie Hughes 55-24 and Mark Vaughan getting a close last frame 55-42 from Dougie Williams.
Beaconsfield D 3, Harlescott B 1
Three tight games in this match, with Ian Evans winning the opener for the visitors 46-31 playing Antony ‘Jabber’ Downes. Alan Childs comfortably won the next against Dave Ferriday 50-12. Shane Powell then beat Harry Ryder 47-37 before Steve Jones hung on to just beat Mark Mason 51-47.
Meole Brace B 4, Condover B 0
Meole continue setting the pace with this result. Malcolm Coote outplayed Dave Francis 61-35, Isaac Faulkner beat Terry Burgess 44-16. Nigel Sampson took the third 54-33 playing Vince Little, and in the last Adam Law completed the whitewash 53-18 over Vic Ingram.
Meole Brace D 1, Unison F 3
A close contest with two very tight games. Matty Edwards earned the first 52-50 against Alan Thomas. Mal Edwards consolidated by winning 55-30 playing James Stevens. Mike Hughes got a point for Meole in a high scoring third, beating Andy Plant 72-61, then Unison’s Dave Thomas took the last 50-36 over Alex Nuthall.
Condover A 1, Meole Brace G 3
Condover took the opener through Dougie Williams beating Andy Wigginton 69-41. Meole then took over with victories for Pete Price 54-43 over Rob Bebbington, Mike Beer 56-29 against Charlie Hughes and Adam Jones defeating Syd Longland 53-33.
