Week 1 Report (18-09-19)



MEOLE ‘A’ 5 v MEOLE ‘F’ 0 Four winners plus aggregate point as Meole ‘A’ go joint top. Young Matt Ryder gets the balls running well for Meole with a 70-58 win over Brendon Coote who had a 22 clearance. Next on was Tom Hancher with a very good 67-28 win against Tony Davies. The 3rd & 4th frames saw some excellent snooker from Ross Corfield 86-4 playing Steve Bebb & Mike Beasley 88-11 playing Andy Bowers.

UNISON ‘A’ 5 v BAGLEY ‘C’ 0 Jamie Davidson kept the first frame tight onto one mistake and the frame was over with two break’s of 35 the frame was over. John Barton winning 86-16. Colin Beaman went 2nd and had a nip & tuck frame with Mike Jones onto Colin pulled away on the colours to win 66-45. The 3rd frame saw some excellent potting by Mike Barnsley for a very good 73-33 win over Gary Prosser. The final frame was low scoring with yours truly finishing well in winning 47-26 over Ross O’Callinghan.

BEACONSFIELD ‘A’ 4 v BEACONSFIELD ‘B’ 1 All frames decided on the colours Jason Bright 61-38 over Rob Jones. Then in the second an excellent final long pink & tricky black for Mark Crees to make it 2 nil in beating Phil Ryan 49-40. The 3rd saw excellent potting from Chris Harrison in defeeting Dave Davies 64-36. & Steve Adams held his nerve to make it 4-1. Steve won 59-34 against Andy Baron.

UNISON ‘B’ 2 v UNISON ‘F’ 3 A close match in this League the away side claiming the aggregate point thanks to big wins from Haydn Cross 86-18 over Andrew Cashion & Dave Thomas 82-46 against Billy Lanham. For the ‘B’ Steve Shingler 71-38 playing Gaz Hughes & Clive Phillips 59-41 against Mal Edwards. 



HARLESCOTT ‘D’ 4 v HARLESCOTT ‘C’ 1 An excellent start by the ‘C’ team with Dan MAanning potting well for a big 83-21 win over Kerry Webster. Then Russ Worrall started the turn round by only just winning 45-42 against Craig Charles. The next was tight again Steve Jones just getting in over John Rigby 57-47. With one frame to go the ‘D’ Team was 2-1 up but 49 behind on aggregate, up stepped Alan Childs to play Russ Price, Alan was in excellent form and went on to win 73-24 making the aggregate 196-196. Now the last two players play a re-spot black potted by Alan Childs for a 4-1 win.

BEACONSFIELD ‘C’ 4 v BEACONSFIELD ‘D’ 1 Good contest here with Jon Hedger best in defeating Jim Wood 81-14. The other two winners were Steve Farmer 75-47 against Pete Archer & Mike Ryder 65-42 over Tony Antrobus. For the ‘D’ team Graham Archer won well 84-47 playing Martin Lewis.

MEOLE ‘E’ 2 v MEOLE ‘G’ 3 This was a close match with Brian Price being the best winner for the ‘G’ Slingers helping them take the aggregate after Andy Wigginton beat Andrew Corfield at the back 54-23. For the ‘E’ men Pete Connor just defeated Pete Price 57-49 & Tim Corfield just got the better of Martin Reader 56-31.

BAGLEY ‘A’ 4 v UNISON ‘E’ 1 Bagley get four points with only three players. Alan Ball with a big 86-34 win & 22 break against Kevin Ebrey. Martin Young made it 2-0 by beating young Robson Webster 66-35. On 3rd Colin Vaughan made it a full house by beating Kevin McEvoy 62-38. With Bagley having no last player Mike Hughes got a walk-over.

CONDOVER ‘A’ 4 v OLD SHREWSBURY ‘A’ 1 We welcome Condover back into this League. Starting well with a very good home win. Syd Longland went on first but came 2nd best to Craig Weaver who won well 64-26. Then it went the home teams way Dougie Williams with a very good 70-41 win against Tony Bennett, Charlie Hughes beating Tony Preece by one 40-39. At the back Rhys Williams had a walk-over. 

PRESTON BROCKHURST ‘A’ 4 v WEM USC ‘B’ 1 Scrappy win for Brock, with Pip Higgins best in winning 52-26 against Simon Perry. On 2nd Glyn Buckley just making it 59-40 playing Mark Perry. The 3rd saw Alan Trowsdale going down 30-49 to Pete Maddon. The final frame very tight, Alan Smith needing Pink & black, but he left Arn Mulligan a long pink which he potted well to just win 57-56.
