Beaconsfield C 1, Harlescott A 3
Billy Lanham took the first for the visitors, beating Ashley Lewis 63-31. Callum Wraight then dominated his frame to win 59-8 against Martin Lewis before Adrian Rowe came through a tighter game with Jon Hedger 65-42. Steve Farmer then earned the hosts a point with a good 57-11 victory over Roger Davies.
Wems Cons A 1, Beaconsfield A 3
A good away win for Beaconsfield, started by Simon McLeod winning 57-26 against Duncan Hill. Steve Adams beat Will Skerratt 70-33 in a repeat of their singles plate final, then Dave Davies came out the winner in an unusually high scoring game 74-60 over Josh Whittall. At the back the potting of Greg Edwards was too strong for Mike Barnsley as Greg took the frame 73-36 for Wem.
Preston Brockhurst A 2, Meole Brace A 2
This was a great home result for the Brock who had a great season last year, up against the formidable Meole A. Pip Higgins got off to a good start with a 30 break in beating Tony Bennett 67-21. Then Callum Gatt got one back for Meole 54-34 against Adrian Trowsdale. In the third Glyn Buckley just came through a low scoring affair with Ross Corfield 40-33, before Kelvin Li beat Arn Mulligan 60-51 at the back.
Beaconsfield B 3, Meole Brace C 1
Simon Richards made a strong start to win 57-16 against Gary Prosser with a 25 break. Ross O’Callaghan then made some great pots in constructing a brilliant 39 break which looked certain to be a 50 as he outplayed yours truly 65-18. New signing Mike Beasley produced a convincing display and a break of 29 to prevail 61-10 over Mike Jones. In the last Andy Baron received a walkover.
DIVISION TWO
Harlescott B 0, Beaconsfield D 4
A surprisingly one-sided result in this clash between two relegated sides. Alan Childs never gave Kyle Ferriday a chance, winning 98-2 with a 33 break. Then Shane Powell beat Harry Ryder 69-28. Russell Worrall survived a close one 49-46 against Alex Evans, before Steve Jones completed the full house with a 52-34 win over Mark Mason.
Meole Brace G 3, Condover A 1
Good start by the G men with captain Pete Price opening the season with a 62-28 win against Rob Bebbington. Andy Wigginton then consolidated, just pipping Syd Longland 42-37. Condover hit back with Dougie Williams taking the third 40-37 from Adam Jones, before Mike Beer continued his good form from last season winning 70-34 against Charlie Hughes.
Unison F 3, Meole Brace D 1
Mal Edwards got the better of Kev Ebrey 59-43, Alex Nuttall levelled for the visitors by beating Andy Plant 53-16. Unison’s Gary Plant then overcame Martin Cane 55-19 before Dave Thomas won 64-34 against Mike Hughes.
Condover B 1, Meole Brace B 3
The visitors came away with 3 of the points from this match, Brendan James winning the first 61-22 from Vince Little. Bill Duckett brought Condover level with his 51-44 victory over Adam Cook. Then Adam Law beat Dave Francis 45-24 before Malcolm James took the last frame 45-20 against Vic Ingram.
