PRESTON BROCKHURST ‘A’ (+ 90) 254 v UNISON ‘A’ (+ 15) 234
Unison went to the Brock & won all 4 frames but lost the aggregate by 20 points, the Brock won after all the players scored well to-wards the end of each frame, Mike Barnsley put in the best performance with some excellent potting to win 61-35 playing Pip Higgins. In the 2nd Yours Truly just got home 52-47 playing Adrian Trowsdale who took time to get going. The 3rd saw Colin Beaman pull away from a very unlucky Glyn Buckley, on the colours it all changed Glyn scoring well to only go down 35-51. The last saw Arn Mulligan playing an excellent safety game to keep John Barton out of the Balls. John potted well when he could to win 55-46.
WEM USC ‘C’ (+ 65) 257 v UNISON ‘F’ (+ 15) 256
This match went down to the wire, In a tight frame Gaz Hughes just beat Pete Day 44-40. In the next Graig Edwards potted well for a good win over Terry Jones 61-29. In the 3rd Josh Whithall came up against an inform Mel Edwards who won well to give Haydon Cross a chance to win the last by 9 points, in a good potting frame Haydon did win but it was 61-54 missing the aggregate by 2 points.
BAGLEY ‘A’ (+ 55) 248 v HARLESCOTT ‘D’ (+ 80) 271
Alan Childs did very well to give the visitors an excellent 56-29 win over Alan Ball. Then Martin Young put Bagley back in the driving seat with an excellent 83-11 win over Mel Griffiths. Again the visitors hit back hard after wins from Steve Jones 60-37 playing Colin Vaughan & Russ Worrall defeating Mick Keene 64-44, to put the visitors into the next round.
HARLESCOTT ‘A’ (+ 10) 296 v HARLESCOTT ‘E’ (+115)
Good contest with the hosts winning thanks to two big wins at the back from Tim Jones 80-37 playing Brian Duckett and that man again Callum Wraight winning 91-20 playing Steve Weaver this was after Tony Watkins had beat Terry Burgess 68-39 & Steve Maddocks just winning against Paul Meredith 47-42.
HARLESCOTT ‘C’ (+ 85) 212 v BEACONSFIELD ‘B’ (+ 30) 299
Phil Ryan set this match alight by defeating Andy Simpson 75-39. Next on was Andy Baron who won 55-29 against John Rigby, but the performance of the night came from Chris Harrison who made a 28 break in defeating Russ Price 103-34. On last in a low scoring frame Rob Jones put the visitors into the next round winning 36-25 over Craig Charles.
HARLESCOTT ‘B’ (+ 60) 296 v CONDOVER (+ 85) 208
The hosts took all 4 frames with Ian Evans starting it beating Rhys Williams 54-30. Then it was the turn of Ian Ferriday 66-35 over Pete Hird. Dave Ferriday made it 3 out of 3 by winning 60-39 against Syde Langland . At the back Mark Mason won well against Dougie Williams 56-19.
BAGLEY ‘C’ (+ 40) 200 v BEACONSFIELD ‘A’ (Scr) 281
Beaconsfield had two big winners Jason Bright 75-26 win over Jamie Davidson & Simon McCloed best at 98-20, Ceri Richards was the other winner in a good scoring frame against Ross O’Collinghan 76-63, Mike Jones did win a good frame with a 21 break for Bagley against Dave Davies 51-32.
BEACONSFIELD ‘D’ (+110) 262 v MEOLE BRACE ‘F’ (+ 20) 274
This was a very tight match after the hosts had a shock start when Jim Wood got the better of Dave Berry for an excellent 57-38 win. After that it went down hill,. Graham Archer was well beaten by Andy Sparkes & so was Tony Antrobus by Steve Bebb 69-24. Pete Archer still had a 14 point lead going into the last frame but was still out-potted by the inform Tony Downes who won 74-46, still it was tight.
MEOLE BRACE ‘G’ (+100) 269 v OLD SHREWSBURY ‘A’ (+ 50) 201
Brian Price set this match a light with an excellent performance in defeating Danny Christmas 101-30, Then the ‘G’ Slingers took the next three frame as well Pete Price 48-39 playing Tony Bennett, Kevin Price just took the 3rd off Craig Weaver 56-51 & Andy Wigginton beat Tony Preece 64-31.
UNISON ‘E’ (+ 75) 278 v BEACONSFIELD ‘C’ (+ 70) 252
This was a very good performance by the ‘E’ men, Starting with the good looking one Kevin Ebrey who won 55-31 playing Dave Fisher, With out Alan Thomas Kevin McEvoy came in and did well to stop Steve Farmer getting a big win, Steve did win but only 49-33. The best frame was the 3rd Martin cane potting well with a 27 break in beating Jon Hedger who also had a 27 break 73-47. Its now down to the last frame Mike Ryder would
have to beat Mike Hughes by 40 for a team win, he did win but only 55-42.
MEOLE BRACE ‘A’ (+ 5) 267 v WEM USC ‘A’ (+ 25) 187
Meole took the first three frames well, Matt Ryder 90-33 playing Sam Breakes. Tom Hancher then beat Ian Tinsley 67-47 & Russ Corfield got the better of Chris Davey 66-34. Wem did just take the last frame 48-39 thanks to Gavin Tommy who beat Mike Beasley.
MEOLE BRACE ‘E’ (+105) 344 v WEM USC ‘B’ (+ 95) 258
This was an excellent result for Meole after Geoff Balshaw lost the first to Pete Maddon 49-65. Martin Blizard did well in defeating Ian Bailey 68-37, In the 3rd Tim Corfield took out Mark Perry 55-30. At the back Pete Connor had a good win over Simon Perry 67-31.
