Competition Week

The website has been updated following this week’s cup Matches. The big match of the week was at Harlescott, where the Division One champions, Meole A visited Harlescott A and it was the visiting side that came away with the victory with the highlight happening in the first frame where Matt Ryder got Meole off to a great start with a 63 clearance break, the other highlight was a break of 40 by Callum Wraight.

Other matches had very close conclusions with Unison F beating Condover by just one aggregate point and the final black in frame four giving Beaconsfield A the victory over Bagley. The draw for the next round and the 1st round of the consolation cup will be carried out at the league meeting on Monday 17th October at Harlescott Social Club, along with the Singles, Doubles & Pairs competition draws.

I end this week’s post on a sad note with the league losing one of its longest serving participants, Len Turford passed away last week at the age of 96. Len was our President for many years and was still playing for Harlescott in the league in the 2018/2019 season. Our thoughts are with Len’s family at this time on the passing of a true gentleman and much respected member of our league.

RIP Len
