Week 7 Report

DIVISION ONE

Meole Brace A 0, Harlescott A 5

This result has opened a gap at the top, Ade Rowe took a high scoring first with a 32 break in beating Ross Corfield 75-54.  Callum Wraight earned Harlescott a bonus point for his 54 break winning 75-8 against Callum Gatt.  Craig Crossley knocked in a 27 during his 60-32 success over Kelvin Li before Billy Lanham had a 25 on the way to outscoring Tom Hancher 60-22.

Beaconsfield C 1, Preston Brockhurst A 3

Pip Higgins settled well with a 22 to beat Martin Lewis 59-22.  Ashley Lewis took control of the second with breaks of 23 and 27 to defeat Glyn Buckley 79-40.  A much closer third saw Steve Farmer just lose out to Adrian Trowsdale 56-53, then another close finish as Arnold Mulligan claimed the last 58-51 at the expense of Jon Hedger.

Wem Cons A 2, Meole Brace F 2

Visiting captain Andy Bowers pulled away to take the opener 63-25 from Glen Barclay.  Wem levelled when Duncan Hill had a close win over Steve Switonski 62-50.  Will Skerratt then just got the better of Andy Sparkes 40-38.  In the last an impressive 63-10 win for Chris Smith who is the first to defeat Greg Edwards during this campaign.

Beaconsfield A 4, Beaconsfield B 0

Good performance from the A side who leapfrog the B lads in the table.  Simon Richards led all the way in the first, potting a good brown but then missing the frame ball blue.  Mike Barnsley cleared up to snatch it on the black 38-36.  Simon McLeod kept Mike Beasley at bay to take the next 72-48, before Tony Watkins outplayed yours truly 55-20.  At the back Dave Davies looked very strong, dominating the table with a break of 38 to prevail 71-16.

DIVISION TWO

Meole Brace B 3, Condover A 1

Brendan James got the hosts of to a good start, winning 71-34 against Paul Rumbold.  Ian Faulkner consolidated 58-28 over Rob Bebbington, then Adam Law made it 3-0 by beating Dougie Williams 52-31.  In the last Condover captain Charlie Hughes grabbed a point for the visitors 39-26 against Adam Cook.

Harlescott B 1, Unison F 3

Good away performance for Unison, Mal Edwards beating Ian Evans 71-42.  Dave Thomas had a high scorer with Alex Evans, Dave just winning 66-59.  Dave Ferriday put Harlescott on the board when he defeated Matty Edwards 57-40, but Martin Evans got the fourth for Unison 66-23 over Harry Ryder.

Condover A 4, Condover B 0

A couple of close frames made this result tough on the B team.  Syd Longland beat Vince Little 46-39 and Dougie Williams recorded a 52-43 win over Bill Duckett.  Charlie Hughes had a convincing score 80-26 against Terry Burgess, but the B team had no fourth player so Paul Rumbold received a walkover.

Meole Brace D 1, Beaconsfield D 3

Alan Childs won again, this week it was Alan Thomas on the receiving end 51-30.  Russ Worrall claimed the next 49-42 before Alex Nuthall got the hosts a point beating Steve Jones 55-15.  Shane Powell kept his run going by taking the last from Kev Ebrey 56-25.

Meole Brace G 2, Meole Brace H 2

A tight first went to Neil Thomas 53-50 playing Pete Price.  Adam Jones made it 1-1 outpotting Jordan Phillips 52-11.  Mike Beer then put the G team ahead when he beat Paul Meredith 70-31.  The match ended all square, however, as Mark Vaughan took the final frame from Andy Wigginton 64-40.
