Week 5 Report

DIVISION ONE

Beaconsfield C 1, Meole Brace C 3

A strong start by Meole, Gary Prosser earning his first point by beating Martin Lewis 48-19, and Ross O’Callaghan beat Steve Farmer 72-38.  Jon Hedger took the next for Beaconsfield 42-33 from Mike Jones before Danny Sumner got the better of Mike Ryder 45-12.

Wem Cons A 3, Beaconsfield B 1

Yours truly ended his long drought, fluking the blue to win 52-26 over Duncan Hill.  Glen Barclay got the second on the black, getting a tricky cut at full stretch against Chris Harrison 47-34.  Will Skerratt was very solid all round to outscore Mike Beasley 61-26, then Greg Edwards won the last 59-22 playing Simon Richards.

Beaconsfield A 1, Meole Brace A 3

Mike Barnsley maintained his good form to hand Tom Hancher his first defeat this season 59-41.  Meole captain Ross Corfield compiled a 38 during his 73-48 victory over Simon McLeod.  Ross Turner put the visitors in front beating Tony Watkins 64-18, at the back Kelvin Li took a low scorer 43-29 from Dave Davies.

Meole Brace F 2, Preston Brockhurst A 2

In a very tight first Pip Higgins just got home 53-48 playing Chris Smith.  Arnie Mulligan beat Andy Sparkes 69-25 to make it 2-0, then Andy Bowers claimed a high scoring third for Meole 68-59 against Glyn Buckley.  On last Steve Switonski levelled the match when he beat Alan Trowsdale 58-17.

DIVISION TWO

Meole Brace H 3, Unison F 1

All close frames in this clash with the first three going to the hosts.  Jordan Phillips beat Mal Edwards 36-27, Paul Meredith won 57-47 against Matty Edwards, Dave Thomas lost out 42-55 to Neill Thomas before Martin Evans earned one for Unison beating Mark Vaughan 54-43.

Harlescott B 2, Meole Brace B 2

Ian Evans took the first 54-44 with the help of a 21 break against Brendan James.  Malcolm James only just beat Alex Evans 53-51, before Dave Ferriday with a 23 break won the next convincingly 54-7 over Adam Cook.  Adam Law then knocked in 24 as he beat Mark Mason 56-30.

Condover A 2, Meole Brace D 2

Paul Rumbold put the hosts in front 51-46 against Martin Cane.  Mike Hughes then levelled for Meole 54-22 playing Rob Bebbington.  Dougie Williams took the next 73-45 to put Condover ahead again only for Alex Nuthall to level once more as he beat Syd Longland 53-36.

Meole Brace G 2, Condover B 2

This was a match of two halves, Vince Little beating Andy Wigginton 63-36 and Dave Francis defeating Pete Price 57-33 to put Condover 2-0 up.  Back came Meole with Mike Beer winning 53-39 against Bill Duckett and Adam Jones beating Vic Ingram 66-38.
