Meole Brace A 4, Beaconsfield C 0
Tom Hancher started this rout with an impressive 94-8 scoreline against Ashley Lewis, including an excellent 48 break. Hancher missed the brown while using the rest while on a potential 70 clearance. Ross Turner backed this up with his 53-17 victory over Martin Lewis. The third was closer but still went to Meole’s Ross Corfield, 49-20 playing Jon Hedger, then Kelvin Li outplayed Steve Farmer 62-23.
Harlescott A 5, Preston Brockhurst A 0
Another resounding performance, this time by the defending league champions. Callum Wraight compiled breaks of 30 and 39 to beat Pip Higgins 87-28. Craig Crossley also knocked in a 30 on his way to defeating Glyn Buckley 78-37. Next Ade Rowe claimed a closer one from Adrian Trowsdale 55-23. Billy Lanham then produced a stellar display to pummel Alan Trowsdale 78-9 with this season’s first bonus break, 53, plus a 23 for good measure.
Beaconsfield B 2, Meole Brace F 2
The first was a tight game throughout, Chris Smith building a lead only for Mike Beasley to pot some crunch colours when it mattered to win on the pink 56-40. The second saw a scrappy affair between Andys Bowers and Baron go down to the black, which Baron potted to win 46-38. Then the fightback, Andy Sparkes having a fluent 37 to beat Ceri Richards 42-8 and Dave Berry getting the last from Simon Richards 56-32.
Meole Brace C 2, Wem Cons A 2
Ross O’Callaghan remains unbeaten, this time dispatching Pete Madden 64-22. Mike Jones then took the second from Glen Barclay 72-37, before Will Skerratt replied for Wem 48-23 against Danny Sumner. Wem’s Greg Edwards hasn’t lost yet either, this week he beat Gary Prosser 54-45 in a close one.
DIVISION TWO
Meole Brace B 2, Meole Brace G 2
Adam Law took the opener 53-40 against Andy Wigginton, Brendan James made it 2-0 by beating Pete Price 51-39. Back came the G lads, another strong result from Mike Beer 73-25 over Malcolm James, before a very tight game just went to Adam Jones 44-42 against Adam Cook.
Beaconsfield D 3, Unison F 1
Russ Worrall got the ball rolling for the hosts, as he won 52-31 against Andy Plant. Reece Jones then pushed Alan Childs all the way, Childs taking it 40-30. Gary Plant lost a close third to Shane Powell 49-58 before Martin Evans claimed a high scoring final frame 65-60 from Roger Moore to give Unison some consolation.
Condover B 1, Meole Brace H 3
Nice to see the return of Neil Thomas, he beat Terry Burgess 46-17. Jordan Phillips took the next 55-31 playing Bill Duckett, Mark Vaughan making it 3-0 by defeating Dave Francis 45-26. At the back Condover’s Vic Ingram averted the whitewash 33-24 over Dan Morris.
Meole Brace D 1, Harlescott B 3
A high scoring first saw Ian Evans just triumph 65-64 against Kev Ebrey. Mike Hughes hit back for Meole with a break of 20 helping him to a 64-48 success over Alex Evans. The captains faced off in the next, with Harlescott’s Dave Ferriday getting the better of Martin Cane 53-30. In the last Mark Mason beat Alex Nuthall 49-37.
All competition draws including both cups were made this week. In both cups there is only one match taking place to get both down to the quarter-finals. In the Len Turford Team Knockout Wem Cons A host Harlescott B on Tuesday 5th November, while in the Trevor Beamond Consolation Meole D host Beaconsfield B on Wednesday 6th November. ALL OTHER TEAMS HAVE BYES IN THIS ROUND.
