This week saw the completion of all the league matches for the season.
In Division One it came down the the very last match between Harlescott A and Meole A to determine who would take the honours of Champions. Meole needed 5 points to pip Harlescott, a tough task but they gave it an excellent attempt winning by 4 frames to 1, but it wasn’t quite enough and Harlescott A were crowned this seasons Division One Champions, five years after their last title.
In Division Two it wasn’t quite so close with Wem Cons A taking the title of Champions with Harlescott D giving them a good run for their money, ending just 4 points behind. Both Wem and Harlescott D will be promoted to Division One for next season, where I’m sure they will be tough opposition for any team.
Most wins and highest breaks have been awarded in each of the Divisions, and these can be viewed in the various links on the website page.
Next Wednesday the 29th March, sees the league singles handicap taking place at Meole Brace. Entries will be taken on the night with the draw being carried out at 7.30pm, so if you wish to enter you must register prior to the 7.30pm cut off, the entry fee is £3.00 per person.
On Monday 27th March, the singles semi finals are taking place at Beaconsfield, both matches being played at the same time, with the victors going through to the Final on Saturday 15th April at the Unison Club, followed by the various league trophy presentations.
Over the next few weeks the completion of the other tournaments will take place with some quality matches being anticipated.
